I have a 1962 model MF-50 and I need a 13.9 X 24 inch rear rim to replace a bad one but I haven’t had any luck locating one. I’m wondering if this is the original rim that came on that year model. Can you recommend any place where i might locate one?
The original tire size for these rims is 13″ x 24″. The new tire size for that old size is 14.9″ x 24″. Go to http://www.petestirestore.com/blog/Antique-Farm-Tractor-Tire-Size-Conversion-Chart-bp10.html There were two different style rims used for this wheel size: one version has 6 loops welded to the rim, similar to the 28″ rim. The other version has a series of raised ribs along the inside of the rim where a ramp style clap rests. The original part number for the loop style rim is 186017M91. This part has been replaced by part number 535454V91 which is still available from AGCO/MF.
The price and listing for Jacks Small Engines, a Massey Ferguson dealer that does online sales is as follows: http://www.jackssmallengines.com/searchdb2.cfm They have this rim priced at $213.75 These are also available from Gemplers, http://www.gemplers.com/product/RC12246/12×24-Clamp-Type-Tractor-Rim-6-Clamps They also have some on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Two-13-6×24-R-1-8-ply-Massey-Ferguson-150-Tractor-Tires-mounted-on-6-Loop-Rims-/350982254353?pt=BI_Heavy_Equipment_Parts&hash=item51b82c2f11
The original part number for the rib style rim is 182618M2. This part is no longer available from AGCO/MF but is still available from many after-market suppliers specializing in tractor tires and rims. This same wheel was also used by other tractor manufacturers so you may be able to locate one through a tractor salvage yard. You can try the tractor salvage yards and should try Nolts Equipment, 717-776-6242. They specialize in Ferguson and Massey Ferguson parts. Wengers is a good source as is Pittsburgh Tractor in Texas. I’m sure there are others, but I can’t recall them right now. http://www.wengers.com/.
